I have never seen a gigantic tray of fruit disappear so fast as when I put this healthy fruit dip out with it. Fruit dip is an old fashioned recipe, but it's one of those that is going to stick around for ages because it's just so delicious.

What is fruit dip made of?

Fruit dip is made of simple ingredients: cream cheese, marshmallow fluff and fresh strawberries.

The old fashioned recipe uses orange juice concentrate instead of fresh strawberries, and that's fine, but I don't want the leftovers in my freezer. Plus, I haven't seen juice concentrate in the freezer section of my stores in a really long time. It's so much more simple to plop in fresh strawberries for their natural sweetness and tart flavors.

Ways to serve this Easy Fruit Dip

I have to recommend you serve this at a baby shower, of course! Use strawberries to make it pink for a baby girl, and blueberries to make it blue for a baby boy! If you're making my dessert charcuterie board, you can sub this fruit dip in for the recommended caramel or chocolate fondue for a lighter twist.

You need a food processor to make this fruit dip! I spend a lot of time in the kitchen (you probably knew this), so I have a giant one that makes quick work of this. However, if you only have a tiny one, use it to crush up the strawberries, and then beat the marshmallow fluff and softened cream cheese in a separate bowl. Combine everything and serve. You can technically use a hand mixer or stand mixer to make this instead, but it will take longer.

Fruit Dip Recipe ingredients

  • Cream Cheese. Ensure your cream cheese is softened at room temperature for a few hours before blending. I use full-fat, but you can use low-fat, if you like. Another cheesecake dip to make, if you happen to buy a 2-pack is my Cherry Cheesecake Dip.
  • Marshmallow Fluff. Also called marshmallow creme; it's in the baking aisle of your grocery store, near the bags of marshmallows. We need a 7-ounce jar of it. Yes, it's very sticky, so use a silicone spatula to get every last drop out of the jar.
  • Fresh Strawberries. Instead of using juice concentrate for this healthy fruit dip, we're using fresh strawberries! Wash, dry and hull 8 ounces (half a pound) of strawberries, and they're ready to go. You can absolutely use half a pound of frozen strawberries that you defrost.
  • For serving: How you want to serve fruit dip is entirely up to you. I love it on display with fruit around it, and it's great on a dessert charcuterie board, too. I package up tiny dip cups of it into my kids' lunch boxes and they dip apple slices, bananas and even more strawberries into it.

How to make Fruit Dip

  1. Gather ingredients: softened cream cheese, marshmallow fluff and clean strawberries.

  2. In the bowl of a food processor, combine the softened cream cheese, marshmallow fluff and hulled strawberries.

  3. Pulse until everything is smooth.

  4. Scrape the mixture out of the food processor bowl and into a serving dish. Cover it in plastic wrap and store in the fridge until ready to serve. Before serving, remove it from the fridge for a few minutes to soften and make it super soft and scoop-able.

What to serve with this Easy Fruit Dip Recipe

  • More perfectly ripe fresh fruit! We love to dip more strawberries, banana slices, apple slices, blackberries, raspberries, and even orange segments in this fruit dip.
  • Small cookies, like mini vanilla wafers, small batch chocolate chip cookies, thin wafer cookies, and graham cracker squares.
  • Even more dips! If you're hosting a Super Bowl party, make an epic fruit board with all the fruit and cookies, and serve this fruit dip alongside my small batch caramel sauce . Even though it's a small batch recipe, it's actually the perfect amount for a party board, trust me! It makes 1 cup of caramel sauce, which is plenty for sharing on a charcuterie board. The same is true for my chocolate fondue for two--the recipe makes 1 cup, which is the perfect amount for a dip portion.

How to store this Fruit Dip Recipe

This fruit dip should be stored in the fridge because it contains dairy products. An air-tight container with a lid is the best place to store it. It will keep for up to 3 days in the fridge, tightly sealed. It’s a good idea to give it a stir before serving again, as the fresh strawberries can break down over time.

Can this dip be made ahead?

I really recommend making this fruit dip the day you plan to serve it. You can make it a few hours ahead of time, and store it in the fridge. Beyond that, the strawberries begin to break down and become watery in the dip, so while it tastes fine after 3 days, it looks its best the day it's made.

How much fruit dip per person?

I am someone who always makes and serves way too much food, but I would rather be the hostess with leftovers than the hostess that runs out of food. This recipe makes 2 cups of dip. This serves roughly 8 people. If your party is larger, I recommend doubling the recipe and splitting it into several smaller bowls for serving. In my experience, people tend to be eat more dip if there are several different bowls from which to access it.

How much fruit do I need for 25 guests?

To calculate this for party of 25 people, I would plan on every person eating 5-6 pieces of cut fruit. If you have any leftovers, you can store it in the freezer for smoothies (as long as the fruit didn’t sit out for more than 4 hours at room temperature. Always follow simple food safety rules to keep everyone safe). A simple way to encourage guests to eat more fruit is to put it on skewers! Everyone loves a skewer, and they will eat up to 2 skewers per person, with 4 pieces of fruit on each skewer. In this case, triple the dip recipe and serve it in several bowls.

Instructions

Make the fruit dip:

1. Gather all ingredients, and ensure everything is at room temperature for easy blending.

2. Place cream cheese in the bowl of a 6-10 cup food processor. Scrape the marshmallow fluff into the bowl along with the strawberries.

3. Puree until smooth, and serve with fruit, cookies and other sweets for dipping.
